'Eavy Metal Haul of Vintage Orks and a classic Meganob
A friend at the gaming club decided to sell off his vintage Ork collection, so I jumped on it like a facebiter squig. I haven't counted the models yet, but I would number them somewhere north of 200, most of which are unique sculpts. I immediately pulled out a Nob in 'Mega Armour' and cut my teeth on these guys. After stripping the paint using Citri-Strip, I re-based him on a 32mm GW round and cleaned up the metal best as I could. I like to think of these older model projects as restorations of a sort.
I used Vallejo German Red Brown primer and followed it with a generous soft dry brush of white as an undercoat. All of my regular paints are made by Warcolours, a gel based line out of Cypress. They are fairly transparent and glaze very well, and while this is a nice quality it does take a while to build up color.
A progress shot of the 'restoration':
And the model as he stands now...
The planet my Orks hail from is very similar to GorkaMorka, with scrap littered all over. They've been there for a long time and have colonized the entire globe, running races nonstop and fighting amongst themselves. I'm having fun trying to showcase the Orkoid ecosystem in my basing with crawling Orky fungus cropping up all over the landscape. My reference material has been Rogue Trader era Ork codices, which discuss their strange biology in more detail.
Thank you for reading and expect more vintage Orks in the future.
